Welcome to the home page of the Gettysburg Knights Templar Commandery #79. We are Christian-oriented fraternal organization and are the culmination of the York Rite of Freemasonry. Our Commandery is under the jurisdiction of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Pennsylvania, in the Central Section, 11th Division. 

 Although we do not claim to be a direct descendant of the ancient order founded in the 11th century, our service in these times reflects the virtues of those Valiant Knights, and we continue to serve those in need today through various charities and support of higher education. The original Knights Templar were laymen who protected and defended Christians traveling to Jerusalem. Those men took vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Today, we as Knights Templar display our courage and goodwill in other ways. We organize various charitable fund-raising and community related activities and do our best to make a difference in our local community. In doing so, we are able to support our members in need, various Masonic-related youth groups, and we are also able to raise millions of dollars each year for medical research and educational assistance.

Today's Knights Templar membership consists of people from all walks of life, and from every corner of the globe. We are proud to have members who are doctors, lawyers, clergy, businessmen, and even entertainment personalities, all of whom profess a belief in the Christian religion and who want to better their communities.

Although all members of the Knights Templar are Master Masons and Royal Arch Masons, not all Master Masons or Royal Arch Masons are Knights Templar. We encourage you to complete your York Rite Masonic education with us, and we look forward to working with you.
